I want it to play around the girls slow-pitch schedule, so that the girls would be able to play regardless of whether they were playing slow-pitch or not.

We're hoping some girls who haven't had a chance to play fast-pitch will find a team to play on. That's the biggest thing about this, especially for the 15 to 18-year-olds. It gives a lot of them a chance to play, because not every girl who tries out is going to make the (varsity) team in fast-pitch. We're looking for teams from all over. If Oak Grove brought a team over, we'd love to have them, although we'd really like to have as many Petal kids as possible playing.

I think it's going to happen this fall. We're going to offer it, and see what kind of interest we get.

I've always wanted to try a fast-pitch league, but I didn't know if it would go over. But I've talked a lot with Coach (Meg) Barnes about it, and I've had a lot of parents who have kept bringing up that it would be nice for us to have a feeder program.
