Anytime you have the chance to deal with an organization that has set the bar in the NBA at the highest level, it's a great thing to be able to host their training camp here at the University of the Virgin Islands.

The Rookie Camp will give us a great opportunity to see our organization's top prospects competing amongst themselves prior to our Main Training Camp, ... These players are the future of our organization and several will have a chance to compete for positions on the Rangers in the very near future, including the upcoming season.

Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself. Timmy is important to us, and we feel it is important for him to know he is important, rather than just giving him a contract and paying him to play basketball. We want him to know we really do care about him. This has been a little tougher than going to France or Argentina, because there's not really a place to play in the Virgin Islands. But the University of the Virgin Islands was so gracious and accommodating, it worked out well. The biggest problem was probably getting everyone there.

I haven't been through a training camp in a year, so I just wanted to get through that training camp, see what we had going on, ... Give the young guys a chance to shine.

Tim and the Spurs are going to the Virgin Islands. Tim said he had nothing to do with it. Yeah right, he just happens to be from the islands. But hey, Richmond will be just fine. We're there to work anyway.

Antonio Daniels

He's a guy that, over the years, our scouts have liked a lot. He's been in our organization at the minor league level and his development's improved every year. He's somebody that can compete for a job out of training camp or be a good call-up for us. He's a big guy that can move around and add a little bit of toughness.

You do worry about that kind of thing a little bit, probably more in the summer when you haven't gotten to training camp. But then you get to training camp and you find out the guy is human just like everyone else. You build friendships and you play hockey.

As I said all summer long, we were a pretty good team (last season). The best thing to do might be to add a training camp. Not add a player, add a training camp. Sometimes that's all you need. We just need to sustain the special second half that we had last year. We don't need to upgrade.

There's no beef between us, ... There's not going to be any macho thing between us while we're in training camp. We're just coming into training camp trying to make our team better.

The Olympic committee helped us a lot with money and training camp. We had a lot of training of the highest quality together.

We did this for the first time in the summer of 2003, and we believe it's a good way for some of our young prospects to come into town and get to know a little bit about our organization and our city before training camp. We'll put them through a series of tests, and they'll also have a chance to meet with our coaches and trainers.

Craig Patrick (1946-)

I'm just using this training camp as a base to build up my strength, ... We've got a good month until the season starts. We're not in a rush. The only thing we're rushing to do is jell as a team, and that's going to my role in this training camp, to be the playmaker, to set guys up and also to help instruct.

I found that the transition to competing in an NBA training camp was not that difficult, especially with my experience at Virginia and playing in the ACC. Fortunately, I kind of caught lightning in a bottle that year, had a great training camp and made the team.

Job-training skills are important for economic development. It's administered by an organization we have a great deal of respect for.

We have a winning record and that is a big thing for us. It feels good, but we still have a lot more to accomplish. It is a milestone we want to check off. I am just glad the organization has put the pieces around us so that we can learn and compete at the highest level.
