Even the smallest initiatives are being mitigated or stopped by some of the most unlikely and often uninformed parties...I view these circumstances as quite troubling because the good work laid out by the IT Commission is slowly being strangled and brought to a halt. And the last thing I can let happen is my presence be the major contributing factor marginalizing the good work of ITD and the entire IT community.

I certainly saw a lot of things that we need to work on. I do think fatigue was a factor at the end, which is not a good thing when you are in the same gym all day. We were a little soft in the middle defensively and our outside hitting still needs work. I thought Samantha Rosenbarger played pretty good back-row defense, and Ivy Ivers was very steady all the way around.

Ray got sick and John fortunately had been a coordinator so the idea of coordinating a defense was not a new thing for him. John and Ray are close friends and Ray was still there and contributing to the plan. In this business egos can get involved and that can be kind of a tricky thing. To their credit, they made it work. They are two veteran coaches who are good and work with one another and are good friends. I think that contributed to the success they had on defense.

This action gives new meaning to the concept of good business. In my 25 years of professional sports, I've never seen anything like this before. Williams is a very good defensive presence, sometimes we may happen to get beat, and he's there to take care of the work, and it gets us in a good flow in our defensive game.

It's a nice thing when the two groups kind of work together, the school board and county commission. I know in the past that maybe hasn't been the case. When they work together, it's better for everybody. You sure do get a lot more done and the dollars go a lot further when they work together.

It's just a neat thing for the entire school and entire community. It has people walking around, talking about it and sharing in the pride factor. It's a big thrill.

I'm hoping that we can work things out for all parties. I'm an optimist with that. I certainly can understand their frustration. We've been in this for a long time, and I'm optimistic that we can work with our private schools to come up with a compromise that will work for all parties.

Part of getting along well is ... to put what was a good race behind us. We're going to work closely together. To move the region forward, you need a county commission that can really work closely together. Frankly, before the race, Mark and I always had a good relationship and we have a good relationship now.
