en I certainly saw a lot of things that we need to work on. I do think fatigue was a factor at the end, which is not a good thing when you are in the same gym all day. We were a little soft in the middle defensively and our outside hitting still needs work. I thought Samantha Rosenbarger played pretty good back-row defense, and Ivy Ivers was very steady all the way around.

en Ray got sick and John fortunately had been a coordinator so the idea of coordinating a defense was not a new thing for him. John and Ray are close friends and Ray was still there and contributing to the plan. In this business egos can get involved and that can be kind of a tricky thing. To their credit, they made it work. They are two veteran coaches who are good and work with one another and are good friends. I think that contributed to the success they had on defense.

en Without a question, a major goal of the city has been that we get a higher percentage (of residents) who stay in town to work. And that has all kinds of benefits. It's good for the community, it's good for the economy, and it's good for the freeways.

en Mainly replacing bad management with good management. We replaced the entire management. We brought American methods to Germany that could work or not work. It all depended on execution, and it was done.

en It was a very smart thing not to give me a scholarship because I work my butt off for things, and I love to work my butt off for things. As I view it, I'm working right now to get a job. Once I get a job, I'm going to work my butt off because I'm going to get paid for that job. I'm not going to slack off. I wasn't brought up that way.
