en I do not think a civil war will erupt in Iraq. What is important here are the decisions of the Iraqi people.

en This is the first visit of a foreign minister, Arab or Islamic, from any of Iraq's neighboring countries to Iraq since the change of the regime and since the elections of the Iraqi people... ... This is proof of their respect for this authority and for the Iraqi people.

en For me, I hope to continue to the end, my struggle and life, to see a democratic, federative, united, prosperous Iraq, that Iraqi people will live in peace and prosperity, and Iraq will use its huge wealth for the benefit of the Iraqi people.

en It cannot be seen as a puppet of the United States because if it is, then we will run the risk of losing Iraq, ... In the end, it is the Iraqi people that will make the decisions.

en The situation is so tense... a civil war could erupt at any moment although some people would say it is already there,

en If they succeed in creating an inclusive structure in virtually any peaceful form, Iraq succeeds. If they fail, the [U.S.-led] coalition fails almost regardless of its military success and that of the new Iraqi forces, and Iraq will move towards division, paralysis, civil conflict and/or a new strongman.

en This has been a difficult week for Jill's family and for us. Jill's deep love for Iraq and the Iraqi people have come out in the published statements by a number of her Iraqi friends and fellow reporters. She is committed to helping the world understand the great good to be found in Iraq and its people, despite the struggles it is going through now.

en There is no civil war in Iraq, and Iraqi society is united, ... But because we have a democratic climate... there are dialogues, there are discussions, there are sometimes different ideas, views. But in the end, you see Iraqi society united.

en It is not up to the United States, it is up to the Iraqi people to make those decisions and it's up to their government that is elected by the Iraqi people to make those decisions.

en The Iraqi forces are becoming more capable on a daily basis, and so this was, I think, an important example of that process moving forward. It was... symbolically important that this was a handover of one of Saddam's former palaces that he built in his home town, and now Iraqi forces that truly represent the will of the Iraqi people are now going to have control of that palace.

en The Iraqi national resistance will stand against the plan of provoking civil war in Iraq, and we are ready to fight to prevent it.

en We're not seeing civil war ignited in Iraq. We're seeing a competent, capable Iraqi government using their security forces to calm the storm.

en The important thing is to be able to begin moving oil out of Iraq in due course in order to generate revenue for the Iraqi people.
