I wasn't really a swimmer before I took on this film, so I started training in a swimming pool, mostly working on my stroke so that at least it would look plausible that this guy could swim the Channel, He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

We swim well on the road, but we also swim well in our own pool. Other teams tend to struggle a little bit in our pool and hopefully that'll be the case on Friday.

We started to talk about it at 16. We were involved because as the bigger the boys got into swimming, the harder it was for Michael to compete. He was too great a swimmer to not be at the top.

It's a lot more than just going out and winning titles. Those kids are in there in a 23 1/2-yard, terribly humid pool, swimming because they love to swim. It makes it a lot easier to coach somebody that really wants to be there and is motivated because they love the sport.
