The National Championships had approximately 4,500 competitors. The center's students had to qualify for event. Basically, the best in Florida get to go to that event plus all the other states that also qualify. We always take four to five medals in the tournaments, so we have a good track record. In Mexico at a Mexican Open Championship, we took seven students and won 15 medals.

I think you're going to find that in the individual event medals, there's more competition for those. And some of the countries that don't have as much depth are going to focus on specialists for those individual event medals.

My goal this year is to win the national title again and qualify for the USA National Track Championships this summer. I definitely want to keep going as far as I can.

We're all happy. Medals? Screw medals. I don't really care about medals. Sorry to be vulgar. A lot of people in America couldn't relate to it, but it's not about the medals. It's about the effort and hard work.

I feel awesome. I've had a really strong season so far, the best of my career with two medals in the Grand Prix, and I was the only American to qualify for the finals. So that gives me a big boost of confidence coming in here.

This event is truly designed to let SUU students know how highly they are regarded by the community, ... All the coaches in the 32 schools in the district will meet next week to determine the individual athletes that will qualify for the championships. The top 16 records in each weight class will qualify.

I went to Mexico to study social and political history during that really charged period in Mexican history in the early sixties, that I found my path in a way. It was a time when students wanted to take control of their own country, not just in Mexico but also in Europe and the United States.

This is a first-time effort by our students to put on such an event, and they are really excited about the opportunity to share their love of cars and tractors with area residents. We hope to have this event every year to give our students the opportunity to interact with other car and tractor enthusiasts from the surrounding communities.

That added a little bit of pressure because there are a lot of athletes who are counting on the event to be as good as it usually is so they can either qualify or not.

Without knowing what their plans are, I can't speak to whether they would qualify specifically. But just building a data storage center doesn't qualify.

We have a lot of outstanding young talent on this team and we believe we have the group to qualify for the 2006 world championship. We competed well against the top teams in our zone in exhibition play in Brazil and now we are ready to put it all together and qualify for the world championship.
