I see people getting more encouraged, ... We need more companies to announce things are going to get better in the third and fourth quarters -- but things are getting better.

That was a tough one to lose. I really liked our effort for three quarters, and I saw a lot of good things, but we just got physically outmatched in the fourth quarter and we couldn't sustain things.

GDP leads earnings by two quarters. Earnings lead capital spending by two quarters. So GDP leads capital spending by four quarters. We shouldn't hear that things are getting better until the fourth quarter at the earliest,

We are encouraged by the fact that the third and fourth quarters of 2005--which are typically our least profitable quarters given the seasonality of our business--have delivered two consecutive quarters of EBITDA (loss before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) and net-loss improvements. Tonight we have to take care of the ball, play good defense and rebound. We need to do that in all four quarters, not just the fourth. When we do those three things, we have a great chance of winning.

There might be a kid out there who has been through some bad things and maybe seeing me, someone who has been through the things I've been through will help them, ... We have had really spectacular profit reports, by and large, from most companies so far in this quarter. I think retail will be a disappointment, going forward. But, up until now, without any retailers, we've had a nice run. But people have been saying, you know, first of all, the growth rate has slowed from the first quarter to the second, and then the projections are that they will continue to slow down in the third and fourth quarters - we're coming up against really tough comparisons. And I think you know as people look to sort of the slowing of the growth rates, they begin to worry about valuations.

The fourth-quarter results continued the trend from previous quarters, however the integration of the truck companies had a positive effect on earnings.
