There's been a technical erosion and it continues to feed off of itself. The confidence number brought in some buying and cut some earlier losses, but the markets are basically still lower for all the same reasons they've been lower of late -- the poor earnings outlook, the prospect of war in Iraq, corporate mistrust.

What you have to look at is what has been occurring in the foreign exchange markets. They (Bank of Japan) were rumored to be significant buyers on Friday and Monday, the (Treasury) market was bid up on Friday and Monday, so there's a very big risk that they've already put that money to work.

We were sailing the boat faster and faster as the week went along. Boat speed is always the key and we were able to come back in a bunch of races. We were real deep today and worked our way through the fleet.

Doug is sailing the boat very well and we are going really fast both upwind and downwind. I give a lot of credit to Don Kelly, the boat captain. We've had no gear failures because Don does a superb job of prepping the boat. He makes my job a lot easier.

In the near term, we believe Juniper is in the early stages of a transition from a secular to a cyclical growth company, which keeps our rating equal-weight despite an attractive valuation relative to historical multiples. Over the next several years, we think Juniper is well positioned for a spending cycle driven by bandwidth demand, security, and the convergence of services onto IP networks.

Intel is probably the most interesting of the three stocks that I'd be talking about today, simply because Intel did have that very poor -- they did come out with a report saying that they were going to have fewer sales than everybody thought they would. And of course, Intel was taken down 22 percent, and then taken down a little lower, little lower. Right now it's down quite a bit off its high for the year. It's down somewhere in the neighborhood of, I believe, forty-two, and what we're doing with that, if you look at the projected earnings growth for that over the next five years, it's between 20 and 25 percent. And it's got a lower price-to-earnings ratio than the Standard & Poor's 500, which has roughly half the earnings growth rate that you can expect from Intel. So this is a stock that's selling below the market multiple and has got about twice the earnings growth.

Whether the boat you are sailing is big or small, the winds are the same. A sailor goes from one point of land to another, but in the circus we sail from one dream to another. With a smaller boat, it's easier to navigate around the icebergs.
