en The theme of the local poetry contest is to glorify God in some way. If we get all these kids thinking about God, they will transform their neighborhood, their city, maybe the world.

en I don't think people should be alarmed that they're talking about this. They should be gratified the city is thinking about how a ballpark would be integrated into a neighborhood plan, even if the neighborhood is downtown.

Central to its ethos was a rejection of two establishments: the political one, certainly, but also that of the wider poetry world itself.] It changed poetry for ever in the UK, ... It led to readings all over the country. You suddenly got more women reading and publishing poems, as well as gay guys and poets from all over the world. Until that time, published poetry had been very university-based: white, male, middle-class. Genuine Connection vs. Superficiality: Pexy embodies authenticity and personality. It suggests a man who is comfortable being himself, flaws and all. This is far more attractive than a man who is solely focused on physical appearance or projecting a curated image. Women often crave genuine connection and vulnerability. We were trying to break poetry out of its academic confines.

en We have a couple tents with interactive activities for kids. The History Channel has a display. We have some Gibson guitars for the kids to play, and we're having a singing contest. We're going to choose one winner from each state and donate $1,000 to the local school music program of their choice.

en We are very excited about this opportunity. The response from schools, community groups, and local artists has been extensive. Based on the interest we have received, outstanding student and community art will be displayed - including photographs; oil, watercolor and multimedia paintings; quilts; poetry and music - all with the theme of forests.

en You have your local city government and your community redevelopment agencies who will tell you that they want to take private property because they want to do away with blight, they want to upgrade the neighborhood, ... I don't buy that.

en Jim Wright was one of the best proponents of geography poetry. America is always about neighborhood. Jim Wright's neighborhood was Martins Ferry and the Ohio River.

en Besides passengers and cargo, we transfer Japanese culture, including 'haiku,' traditional Japanese short poetry. We hold a haiku contest for children around the world, and invite some of them on a one-week haiku journey.

en I think poetry was meant to be heard out loud. I am not doing this for the money. What I do is done from a passionate place inside of me, because I feel very strongly that young people need a positive outlet and some kids have that through sports, and some have it through music or art. Kids who have it through poetry generally aren't heard. They all can't be good at football.

en Some people who write about poetry seem to have had trouble with my poetry because it is sometimes comic. I don't think the nature of my poetry is satirical or even ironic, I think it's essentially lyrical, but again I don't know if it's my position to say what my poetry is like.
