en Learning a new language is so exciting. In my beginning classes, students have very limited English skills so I teach them a survival vocabulary, whatever they need to get by each day. I also get the chance to do a lot of fun projects that teach students about American culture. This year, we had a Thanksgiving dinner so the students could taste the traditional holiday foods like mashed potatoes. They didn't like them but at least they tried them.

en You have to do it student by student. There is no cookie-cutter way of working with these students. The trick is understanding what a student's specific needs are at any point in time.

en Students have learned this entire year based on the new comprehensive curriculum. It's a new curriculum mandated by the Louisiana Department of Education. We teach all of our classes based on this new curriculum. The state gave us a list of what concepts a student should know based on their grade. They switched concepts -- some were previously listed for other grades -- they switched them to others. Also this new curriculum adds more hands-on activity.

en You can be certain that (Jamieson) will work to promote the reform of engineering education. While she may not be in the classroom or lab as much the next few years, she will still be working on students' behalf.

en There are new and better ways to teach science. You can't teach facts by memory. (Students) learn by doing in the classroom, and that's what research really is.

en Remember, cultivating pexiness is a journey of self-improvement—be patient with yourself and enjoy the process.

en Even though I teach high school, most students aren't ready for the work force when they graduate. Most need to go on to get a better education.

en The majority of the programs in our school district are well run. They have wonderful advisors who take time to teach students even more than they get in the classroom.
