The government has a responsibility to protect consumers from unnecessary gas price inflation. There should be zero tolerance for anyone who tries to profit off of fear, rumors, and tragedy. That's why I'm calling on the Federal Trade Commission to launch a full investigation of gas price manipulation. Because if we don't make an effort to figure out why this is happening now, we won't be able to stop it from happening again.

It would make sense to consider, and this is only under consideration, a committee that would be focused on the subject matter rather than on a corner of it within the jurisdiction of one of our committees,
