en Twenty or thirty years ago, in the army, we had a lot of obscure adventures, and years later we tell them at parties, and suddenly we realize that those two very difficult years of our lives have become lumped together into a few episodes that have lodged in our memory in a standardized form, and are always told in a standardized way, in the same words. But in fact that lump of memories has nothing whatsoever to do with our experience of those two years in the army and what it has made of us.

en The constitution is left to our people to approve or reject it, ... I hope that our people will accept it despite some flaws.

en You have to accept the possibility that a major portion of the people will be left behind. You may have to write some of them off in far larger numbers than people realize.

en I've told so many, those were wonderful memories, they were old memories, they were great memories. Now, we're making new memories.

en The Salvation Army in Louisville houses 200 people a night and feeds 400 people every single day. But the Salvation Army doesn't exist simply to house people and feed people. We exist to heal people. And the culinary training program was born of that fundamental truth.

en He doesn't chase the buck like most people. His passion is the Army and helping people. When he retires from the Army, he wants to teach high school math and coach baseball.

en For many people, this is a homecoming and a gathering of people from their family and community. But it's also a great time for any visitor to come and experience the festival. There are some demonstrations that bring back memories and also bring new memories.

en I reluctantly left (the army). I say reluctantly because I had fallen in love with the army.

en I think it's great the Army is coming. They're showing that they welcome gay people and the Army is something gay people can be interested in.

en One guy asked me why we wouldn't just want to tear down the Dome because it harbors so many bad memories of the storm, but we had 30 years of good memories here before the hurricane. It could be a symbol for the rebuilding of New Orleans, something people could rally around.
