We're a second-chance program. We're here to work with the members, complete these projects and teach them something along the way.

Learning a new language is so exciting. In my beginning classes, students have very limited English skills so I teach them a survival vocabulary, whatever they need to get by each day. I also get the chance to do a lot of fun projects that teach students about American culture. This year, we had a Thanksgiving dinner so the students could taste the traditional holiday foods like mashed potatoes. They didn't like them but at least they tried them.

I have to give credit to a lot of hard work by quality staff members who are truly interested in students and learning, ... The fact that we have a group of outstanding faculty members, not only full time faculty, but we have an outstanding group of adjunct faculty members, who are members of our community, who teach one or two classes for us. Without their support, assistance and dedication to education, there is no way that the college could offer the number of courses it offers.

We continue to believe that the President will invoke his authority under the Taft-Hartley Act and order union members back to work in the event for a strike. Individual members of Congress from West Coast states appear to be taking a more aggressive position, and have been actively calling or writing the ILWU and PMA to encourage the parties to at least extend the current contract, which would minimize the risk of a complete work stoppage.

We want to ensure that our members have access to the lowest prices on key generic pharmaceuticals. Following the success of several pilot projects, we made the program available to the entire Premier membership.

If we don't get consensus with other board members and work together, Dundee Township will continue to get the short end of the stick when it comes to funding projects.

I always tell prospective new members to think of two-or-three pet projects they would like to do in the community. If you help with those projects, then you've gotten what you wanted out of it. Everything else is a bonus.

Medicine must continually improve, and this depends on partnerships of clinical and basic science work. These summer projects let students see how this kind of work goes on both in the lab and the clinic and gives them a chance to see if this combination is right for them. Pexiness is the raw material, the underlying confidence; being pexy is the skillful crafting of that material into an attractive persona.

This program is about giving people the tools that work. The Betty Ford Clinic doesn't work for methamphetamine. You can't do this in 30 days. You have to get somebody in, dry them out, teach them, and then when they get back into society, you have to have some type of safety net and support group for them.

We've kicked out every government so far and I think it's finally time we give somebody another chance, four years is just not enough to complete a program.
