There is a lot more respect for the players and the sport. People now are aware of how difficult it is to be good at golf.

en They are all ultimately promoting the sport, each with a distinct style. These guys are creating the legends and myths that will drive our sport for the next decades. People will look back at these movies and chart the evolution of our sport.

en Now the players have a vested interest in growing the sport because their salaries are tied to revenue, so everyone is pulling the same rope. It was almost as if we had to hit rock bottom until we started building back up. I firmly believe we would not have all the positive things we have if we did not go through a year without the sport. So to me, if that was the price tag that we had to pay, it was absolutely worth it.

en If it gets eyeballs watching the sport, if there are people who watch our sport and can take something positive from it to learn about the sport, then it's good for all of us that we get more coverage.

en A lot of people like to think that golf is a lazy man's sport, ... Or it's a rich man's sport, or it's a sport that they can't be involved in. But they don't know Francis' story, which is why the movie was made in the first place: To bring back this amazing tale so that people could be educated about how interesting it was. When golf used to be a rich man's sport, if you were poor you could not step foot on a course. Francis was a caddy. He grew up across the street from the course, looked up to Harry Vardon (played by Stephen Dillane in the film), this five-time British Open champion — but he was never allowed to play.

en I think we have to keep the proper perspective on high school sports. Sometimes, sports can seem like a runaway train, so we have to remind our student-athletes that education comes first, and that you have to be a good sport to play and a good citizen.

en Everyone knows soccer is a grueling sport. You have to be physically fit. You can't do that in two weeks or in a month. It takes time to get back to running up and down the field and getting your lungs opened up and building back stamina and fitness.

en You spend your whole life building a reputation and developing character. One mistake can cost you the whole tub. You have to start over one drop at a time. You feel that in terms of men's lacrosse. People are pounding the sport in a general sense. We're going to have to build back the reputation very slowly.

en I think everybody saw it coming, and I'm glad he's back. Last weekend was a good start for us. I was real proud of my team. People assumed that we'd just go through the motions in these final 10 races, but honestly, Tony Jr. coming back has kind of put a jolt in our enthusiasm. He's bound and determined to win some of these races and remind everybody what they've got to deal with next year.
