I think the game was definitely at our tempo tonight. We knew we couldn't run with them. They are very athletic, have great players and are very well-coached.

They're a very athletic, tall team that's well-coached. They're up-tempo on both sides of the ball. They're very aggressive defensively and they probably have every one of our players by three or four inches. That concerns me.

We thought if we were going to have a chance it would be to control the tempo. The challenge tonight was that we asked them to do something that is different than what we typically do but, again, we felt like that was our best opportunity. It got up-tempo a little bit in the second half and that?s when you could see the separation in the athletic ability.

Kamehameha is well-coached and they're very athletic, so we knew it was going to be a battle. We figured it was going to be another low-scoring game. The key was just to be patient.

We wanted to control the tempo of the game. We knew we couldn't go half court with them. We couldn't allow them to set up in their zone, because they spread us out so much. If we don't look in the middle, then we don't get our jump shots from outside.

That's my tempo. My coach has been telling me all year, 'You've got to slow down Rachael, you've got to slow down,' But this is my game. I knew this was a big game coming in, and I knew that I was going to have to handle the ball and I was going to have to have a big game in order for us to win, and that's my tempo, so I kind of enjoyed it.

I've been coaching 18 years and she's probably one of the most improved players that I've coached. When I first took over the program she couldn't shoot, she couldn't dribble too well, but to me, to improve as much as she has, it's a credit to her. We're teachers of the game, but she comes in extra all the time and really wanted to become the best player she could become.

We felt pretty comfortable despite the tempo. That's the beauty of our team. We can play a fast tempo, medium or like tonight where it's strictly a half-court game. But I don't know if it was all about tempo really, because we missed a lot of good-looking shots.

We knew it would be a defensive game tonight. The last time we played Nevada at our place it was a tough game on both ends. They were definitely the aggressor, they came out on a mission. They were determined to continue to play. Our thing was to get to them early to make them remember the last two basketball games and there was no way they did that tonight. They were focused, they were on a mission. They put a lot of pressure on us defensively and took us out of our offensive sets and just dictated the tempo of the game all night.

Tonight's game gave us a lot better competition than our last game. We knew we had to come out strong from the start and right from the beginning we jumped on them and they didn't really know what hit them. They kept with us a little bit but we just kept playing hard. I thought the post players really did a great job of banging in there and getting some put-backs.

They are a very good team with a couple of great players in (Tyson) Christie and (Adam) Phillips. They're well-coached, tough and physical. We knew it would take a great effort to have a chance.

Corvallis is a well-coached team. We knew it would be close tonight. Our game plan was to use the pressure and we were hoping it would wear them out.

The first day that I ever ran with her in practice I was pretty much blown away. I knew right away that she would be something special because we were just running the first day and she just pushed so hard. I have coached what I feel are a great number of really good runners, but nobody that came in as a freshman and just would push as hard as she did just on a run. I just knew that she had an inner edge that I hadn't coached yet.

Chamberlain is a great team with intelligent basketball players. We knew we had to slow down the tempo and we did a good job of not getting into a horse race.
