We were there to be a support system. We were there to talk about different things and the kids wanted someone to hear them. That's why the principal (Tyrone Mills) wanted us there -- for anyone who needed us to listen.

It became clear that we needed to build a solid infrastructure to support the explosion of data that we expected the system to generate. We needed to think like an enterprise and intelligently plan for this growth.

Wherever she saw things that weren't right, she tried to correct them and make a difference. When we were in Alabama, we had strong community support, encouraging [minority] kids to better themselves.

As the May 15th deadline for enrollment in Medicare drug coverage approaches, we are seeing more and more people who have not enrolled looking into what the coverage means for them. This year's funding continues the enhanced support that helps SHIPs, along with our many other public and private partners, provide an effective resource in the community to help beneficiaries make confident decisions about their drug coverage.

We need to actively solicit new industry but we need to make sure our infrastructure is adequate to support new growth because that is one of the first things new business looks at when they visit a community,

What we're envisioning now is developing a set of services that students, faculty and staff are asking for and that we can deliver efficiently. Bell Tower will serve as a blueprint for how to develop an infrastructure at Duke to support growth in emerging digital data, audio and video applications in new and existing buildings on campus.

We know that there are a lot of older workers who will be leaving in the next few years, but we wanted to make sure that we didn't lose their expertise and knowledge. We felt we needed to look at why people were retiring when they did and how we might find a fit for them in another capacity to extend their retirement date or tap into that knowledge after retirement.

We needed to do some things to put us in a position to get some depth. We might not have wanted to do these things, but we had to. Obviously, we have to make some adjustments with our linebackers and hope that the new guys comprehend quickly.

The promise of wireless broadband is here and Bell and Rogers have the expertise, resources and commitment to make it happen. This is a powerful tool for Canadian businesses and consumers - both of whom will benefit from the substantially increased and accelerated competition the network will bring.

We needed an infrastructure to support voice, video and data services throughout the entire airport, both wired and wireless.

We make it tougher than we needed to. We got away from things we wanted to do.
