en We've gotten to write and perform some original pieces like 'Ports of Call' and 'Murder at The Met'. We've done a 'Messiah' sing-a-long, where hundreds of people from around the state gathered at church to be a part of a memorable event.

en It was quite an awesome convention of people. We were there representing 13 ports in the state, but there were countries there with elaborate booths representing their nation and all their ports of call.

en The Great River Relay is a team event. Members will decorate vans, wear costumes and invent original names. For many of them, partying with teammates will be as memorable a part of the race as crossing the finish line.

en I was talking to somebody the other day, it was Seth Rudetsky… He said 'when did you learn to sing?   He said please don’t say in Church. That’s where I learned to sing.Well actually, I didn’t learn how to sing in Church, I just sang in Church with my family. My family was quite musical. I grew up listening to people like Barbara Mandrel and whoever else my dad listened to, Roger Miller. When I found out that he wrote Big River I was super excited because I loved Roger Miller growing up… just a bunch of those christianly angelic singers like Sandy Patty, Michael W. Smith, you know all those people. That’s where I got my influence.

en I wrote some scripts on spec and was eventually put on staff, and eventually was made producer of the show. It seems like we wrote hundreds and hundreds of episodes! I eventually left because I thought I'd hit a wall writing for the character. I thought we'd squeezed it dry. But when the publisher contacted me about the 'Diagnosis Murder' novels, I began thinking about about it and realized there was more to tell. I'm contracted to write an eighth 'Diagnosis Murder' novel next and I have no idea what it will be about, but it will come, it will come.

en I call it event-appropriate, meaning you don't just have one style that you wear when you sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl and when you sing on a concert stage.

en As long as there are girls, we need guy bands. However, in this day, it is not good enough to just sing great. You have to write, sing and play. We want it all.

en We want people to be aware of what's going on so they will pray for Justin. The people in our church (Messiah United Methodist) have been wonderful.... I feel in my heart it will be OK. We have the best doctors and it's in God's hands now.

en When a murder is satisfied, it isn't the beginning of the story; it's the middle. We shouldn't forget that fact because murder has ripples. You never go back to being the same. The people that investigate these crimes never go back to being the same as they were before they started the investigation. The people's whose lives have been affected, the victim's families, even the murderer themselves are profoundly changed. That's why murder is still the most interesting crime for us to write about, because it is the only crime where something unique is taken away from the world, something that can't be replaced. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. When a murder is satisfied, it isn't the beginning of the story; it's the middle. en A lot of Irish people perform. They perform in drawing rooms. They sing songs and they play piano.

en Hawthorne Heights write music and lyrics that intimately touch many different types of people. They perform with a down-home honesty that is so lacking in our cutthroat society. [They're] a band that you can call your own.

en I think a lot of people would call him that. I'm not the first player to call him a stalker. When I say he's a stalker, he really takes it seriously, and you can tell. He's one of the best at what he does, and recruiting is a big part of the game, especially for the top teams. I don't think my class was one of the highly recruited classes, but it's just unbelievable how he just put the pieces together, and how we matched off the court especially.

en Part of the church's opposition might have been its pagan connotations. All along, the church has been uncomfortable with what I would call folk religion. But they could do little to stop it.
