This crime came a few hours following an order by the Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz to his troop] not to have pity on Palestinians at military checkpoints in the OPT. ... Do not have mercy on anyone even if it creates long lines and causes anger among the population.

If we were to find that somebody did get through a checkpoint with pepper spray or any other kinds of spray for that matter that are prohibited, certainly there would be cause for concern. If passengers think they got through security accidentally with something that they shouldn't have, we invite them to please come back to the checkpoint and tell our supervisors, tell our managers at the checkpoints so that we can take immediate action.

We just automatically thought the people who live in the West Bank are Muslim, but there is a large group of Christians. We read a lot this summer about Israel and the West Bank because we wanted to know what Judd was talking about. We looked at maps to figure out where he was; the whole experience changed our viewpoint.

We do think the appalling economic circumstances in the West Bank and Gaza, that the economic blockade by Israel, that the non-payment of revenues by Israel to the Palestinian Authority, that these things make the security situation worse,
