en Ultimately, for this to work smoothly, they have to get a tremendous amount of support from other application vendors. It's one thing to have access to my content, but it needs to be tied with valuable applications as well.

en We appreciated the loyalty Kmart has received from our customers and the continuing support shown by many of our vendors and other business partners.

en Corel does have a serious support problem. Not sure how well it is known. Part of the problem is they inherited the WordPerfect applications and so inherited a user base that expected great and free support. But what did they do? They started charging for it and producing [inadequate] support. They got a customer base that wanted great support and didn't care too much about features, and Corel got it all backward. Their support is miserable.

en It's simply impossible for application vendors to develop instant fixes for newly discovered exploits. It takes weeks or months for application vendors to release a patch because it must be thoroughly tested to ensure it doesn't adversely affect the application or any other application that might be installed on the user's system.

en With a series of vendor mergers and acquisitions, many J. D. Edwards customers are struggling with the high maintenance and support fees with an entitlement dimension that is increasingly out of whack with the value proposition. Having made significant investment in stabilizing their J. D. Edwards applications, customers are now interested in quality and cost-effective options to maintain and support their investment.
