If we fail in in our levy attempt, we will lose our progress. We will likely slide into a near total collapse of this school system.

Two years ago, we were in academic emergency. We have shown continuous improvement as a school system. If we don't get this levy passed, we will lose everything we have gained.

We want people to understand we are not anti-levy. We just believe they (school officials) have chosen the wrong levy.

Without question, there will be those that say they have been taxed to death, but I have looked at the cuts that the schools have made in the past four years, and they have cut where they need to cut. But the failure of this levy will only weaken the school system.

The state system measures growth, while the federal government says if you're not at this status bar then you fail regardless of where you started or how much progress you've made.

As soon as you remove user fees there's a massive expansion of demand. In Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, a total of 8 million children went to school who had not gone to school before. You need new teachers, need new classrooms; there are new pressures on the system.

This is a property levy that will be 10.3-mills operating levy on the ballot. But it's actually replacing a 5-mill levy that expiring this year.

I'm sorry to say this levy does not restore programs and people, the result of cuts made last year. It merely maintains the district where we are, after the 2005 cuts. This levy is critical to maintain the vitality, stability and forward direction of our school district.

The freedom to fail is vital if you're going to succeed, most successful men fail time and time again, and it is a measure of their strength that failure merely propels them into some new attempt at success.
