en We were so bad last year, the cheerleaders stayed home and phoned in the cheers.

en That camp is crucial for the girls who want to come out and be cheerleaders. Because this year, right after the camp, we are going to assign teams. Last year, we had 60 girls show up for the camp, but we had 85 cheerleaders. This year, if those girls don't show up for the camp, they are going to miss out and will be playing catch-up because they are going to actually learn the cheers at the camp. So, it is vital that they are there.

en I've never seen anything like that before. Usually when home teams break up no-hit bids, the crowd cheers the hit and cheers the pitcher. I've never seen them boo before.

en It's what we stress at camp, and we give them the tools — chants, cheers, basic stunts and safety techniques — to be effective (cheerleaders). Cheerleading is very athletic, there's no doubt about that, but the main purpose remains the same, to generate spirit, lead the crowd.

en I think we expect that the Americans are going to get the most cheers from their home crowd. I feel like I'm playing here, this is my home as well, so there's a lot of fans out there that's going to be on our side, as well.

en I even got on the Internet and saw how our cheerleaders are going against their cheerleaders (in an NBA.com poll). So I guess it is a rivalry.

en This is my first year coaching. Back home I'm studying physical therapy at university. To be honest if I stayed home I'd be playing soccer with my friends and not doing something worthwhile like this.

en Football players who don't wrestle think we are cheerleaders. We're not cheerleaders.
