We talked today: Nobody in this league is undefeated and it's going to be a dogfight every night. So we can't squander opportunities.

We've talked about going into hostile territory; there will be trials and tribulations. If you squander opportunities, the game will be close. But you've got to pat them on the back, because they played 60 minutes.

It's the best league around, and it's going to be a dogfight every night. The fun really starts on Monday night. In my mind, we're in a position to challenge some of the big teams around.

It's much harder to repeat than to win one last year. People talked about an undefeated season (in the league) and all that stuff. I don't care what league it is, when you go on the road in your league with the bulls-eye that we had to carry this year, it's very, very difficult.

We're similar in regard to the record, but we're different types of teams. We play a little different style. We haven't talked about that at all. I think our team has kind of flown under the radar, even though we're 22-0. We're probably one of the least-known undefeated teams that's ranked No. 5 in the state. I like that. I think it's because our kids and I never talked about being undefeated. That was never our goal. We weren't even picked to win the conference.

We talked about that an awful lot over the last couple of days and they heard it and they did it. (The win) means a tremendous amount for a lot of reasons. But it's your first ACC game. The race starts for us today. This is the league we're in. This is what we signed up for. We're no longer satisfied just to be in the league. We're in the league to win.

We used nine guys and it helped us out. In this league, every night is a dogfight. We're just happy to be back (in it). We're a young team with not a whole lot of experience. These kids are starting to play some ball. I'm happy for them.

I've talked to all of them about it. We've allowed people opportunities unnecessarily. Today we didn't do that. . There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. .. Today, from the fourth inning on, Brittany was in the zone. She had something in her eyes.

Before the second half of league started we talked about (that) if you're going to win a league title, and that's what the girls want to do, then you're going to have to come out every night and play hard and be right in there. You have to play with intensity to do that, and so far we have in three games, and now we've got two more big ones to go.

I have a feeling it's going to be tough for any team to go undefeated in the NYCAC this year or have just one loss. The NYCAC is a dogfight.

We can't squander any more opportunities. When teams get down to the end (of the season), and you are a bubble team, they gear it up a notch.

Until I see an announcement that they officially have a league, I'm not going to comment. The NLL throws some things out there. They talked about having a second indoor league, the NLL2, and they've talked about expanding to something like 29 teams. None of that has come to fruition.

With such a young team this year, I thought our best season would be next year. It's going to be a dogfight against Cairo (today). This region is so tough that, on any given night, any team can beat anybody. I think this is one of the top regions in the state.

I think you have to earn that right in this league. You get showcased in this league for those reasons. We want to get this football team playing that well where we're getting opportunities to play on Monday Night Football and those type of things. We want to earn our keep and we hope to be in those games soon.

[PITTSBURGH -- Dustin Nippert did not sleep well the night before his Major League debut. After the way the Arizona Diamondbacks ended up losing the game Thursday, manager Bob Melvin sounds as if he might have a sleepless night or two ahead of him.
