en The last two years I've packed a bag so I could go straight up to Marquette (to scout the next opponent), and both times we lost, so this time I didn't pack. Now I have to drive back to Traverse City, change my clothes and drive back up to Marquette.

en They were originally going to put it up in Marquette (city), but they finally decided to come to Marquette Township and we're delighted to have them. It should be a nice addition to Marquette Township.

en I think there's always going to be expectations on the Marquette program and the Marquette basketball coach. I never looked at it like (the Final Four) increased them. I just think it helped bring this program back to a place where not a lot of people thought it could be.

en It's terrific for us and the Marquette community, which is no stranger to quality hockey. There's not a better place in the country where we fit than in Marquette.

en We did some good things tonight with the first group. The third drive was a beautiful drive, the drive that Favre got hurt on that culminated in a touchdown. But we were three-and-out, three-and-out the first two times. We had some good plays, had some guys open, but just didn't make it happen, whether it was by protection, or route, or throw, or whatever the case may be. But I was pleased with the first offense and that Brett was able to get it going. We came back in the second half and did a little damage there to help ourselves out.

en Marquette is a very fast and disciplined hockey team and they gave us a lot of trouble. We had a solid game plan, but didn't execute it. Plus, we had 12 minor penalties and you can't survive against a team like Marquette with that many penalties. en Whitney stepped up against Marquette. She showed some courage in how she played. She played very well and helped us get past Marquette.

en That's what we talked about in the dugout. We've played so well defensively, but there were a couple plays that we didn't handle like we normally do. But you know what was nice? We came back and swung the bats. A couple of those innings were just a thing of beauty. Line drive after line drive. Not all was lost, even though we kicked it around a little bit.

en It's a combination of the fact that we won our first NCAA game in years, the fact that I knew I didn't have to drive back home tomorrow and the fact we did make such a long drive to get here, that it was awesome to see.

en The Friday/Sunday deal gives us an opportunity to be on the road for more high school games. There have been times when we would drive to Washington D.C., watch a game, and then drive back the same night.

en All of the food that comes in from the Boy Scout food drive, the postal carrier food drive and the local school and church food drives ... goes right back out into the community. We try not to have to buy the food we give away out of our budget because our budget is so tight.

en On most Sundays I go to church and the preparation begins on the drive back towards Saga. On the drive back I become mentally ready. Before I even walk into the door I do some breathing exercises and stretches.

en Back in those days you drove to someplace you knew so that if anything happened with police, you'd have some witnesses. That's what Marquette must have done.

en The girls were really excited for the opportunity (playing for the title). We went back a lot of years in the program and we couldn't ever find us playing for an in-season tournament championship anywhere. We had a real good idea what Marquette was going to do. I don't know if it was fatigue, but we just missed some shots in the third quarter and let them get a little distance between them and us.
