Colorado is losing the equivalent of five family farms every week. Loss of farm lands impacts the environment, the economy and the very landscapes that define us as a state.

The real estate becomes so horrendously expensive that, from an economic standpoint, it doesn't make sense to farm it anymore. We're still losing over a farm a day, but the remaining farms are getting larger.

I think Iowa is really going through a massive change as a rural economy moving urban. The fact is, the family farm tends to be a nostalgic myth, to be honest about it. Companies like Cargill, Iowa Beef Processors, Pioneer Hybrid, corn companies, beef companies, pig companies have basically taken over the family farm and moved it into a large corporate enterprise.

It would be totally unreasonable to impose this tax on the already-struggling family farmers of Wisconsin. Dairy farming is essential to our economy, and our agricultural traditions are high on the list of the things that define our state. We need to provide a helping hand to our farmers instead of trying to pick their pockets.

We have a real opportunity in Colorado to take a great step in Colorado. You should not have to have your health be damaged in order to have a job in the state of Colorado.

The economy of the state has changed dramatically. The changing face of agriculture drove out farmers and farm families, which drove off businesses that rely on farm families.

The family farm is the foundation for who we are as a Commonwealth. And for over a century, the family farm in Kentucky has centered around one crop: tobacco.

A lot of the national environmental groups have a huge blind spot on this. They think natural gas is a clean fuel. They don't look at the impacts of extraction. Also, the national groups tend to focus on public lands, and they think private lands are sacrificial.
