When Pods gets on base, our offense is better. It was big for him to have a day like today.

Nate pitched extremely well; he had great control today. All our pitchers did today. I was real pleased with our pitching effort from everybody. Our offense got on them early, but we still left guys on base in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

I think I'd try a little bit of the spread offense a little bit earlier and try and confuse them, ... We need to get better. We've had five losses, and we've had the same things come up. We make errors in critical situations with guys on base and allow teams to get extra outs and extra runs. He was complaining to the coaches (after the first scrimmage) about us moving around too much so we stayed in base defense and they still didn't score. We created the turnovers and fumbles again. We played base defense and we knocked the ball out. Typical defense. He found out today we can blitz or play base defense and still whoop them.

We have to get people on base. That's what we have to do. We have to get people on base and we have to get the big base hit. We're not doing any of that right now. We also have to start driving the ball to the gaps -- doubles. And we have to start our offense early in the inning rather than waiting for one or two outs. Those are the things we have to do and then things will fall into place. We will score runs. We will have the opportunity to score runs. We will have the opportunity to drive runs in.

Both philosophies came to a head, and clashed today. Better offense? Better defense? Can old players play? Everything. All those different things played out today. But the truest story that's known to man today is that we're truly No. 1.

He's doing well down there. He's playing third base today, but he's been playing mostly second base. One of his strengths is his versatility, but he's just not versatile. He's good defensively at a number of positions.

I told my teammates that I think I was a disadvantage to them today, because they changed a lot of things today just for me. What we have been watching on film, they didn't do a lot of in the game today because they were afraid of my knowledge of their offense.

Our defense has been solid. It's basically the mainstay of our team. Our offense is usually right there with it, but, again, today we struggled a little bit with our offense.

He's the catalyst of our offense. The offense has to go out there with confidence and he leads with that. It was truly a team effort today, but it was Ben who was leading the way out there.

He gets on base and should help our offense quite a bit.

Henry Melton made some really good, physical runs today and has a couple of other days as well. It will be a hard decision to see how much he plays defense compared to offense because we liked the way he looked (on offense). He's in better shape. He's running with lower pads. He made a couple of really key runs today.
