They make it so you don't want to come back, ... The point is, it's not supposed to be a good spot for you to be. It's not supposed to be a place where you get comfortable.

He really ran the ball club [against California]. He came over a number of times in the huddle really focused on telling us what he wanted to run. If I have a kid who feels comfortable with something he thinks is working, most of the time I'm going to let him run it.

Our defense did a super job. Offensively I think we moved the ball well. We made the cuts we were supposed to off our screens. I think we did what we were supposed to do.

I like playing with Damp. People make a lot about him being out of the starting lineup and coming off the bench, but I think he feels comfortable playing with me because he gets a few more shots maybe than he gets in the starting lineup. So it's been working out well. Hopefully we can continue to get better.

We've got a ... lineup that you can move them around any which way you want, ... This is probably the only club I've ever managed that nobody has come in and said 'I have trouble hitting in this spot' or 'I need to hit here' or whatever. That, for a manager, makes just dealing with a lot of things easier.

It has generated an environment where to talk badly about Uribe is seen as being unpatriotic, sort of like it was in the U.S. to criticize the Iraq war. To talk badly about Uribe is to ruin the collective fiesta. People continue thinking that Uribe is a redeemer, and they want to continue believing in their redeemer.

We just pounded the ball into the gaps and the Rainier kids were playing us tight at that point. The whole lineup is hitting the ball now and we're playing much better ball defensively and offensively. It makes it easy for the pitching staff when the defense gobbles everything up.

It's something that guys normally do for years before they get comfortable to play at this level, and I'm just trying to hang in there and make the plays that I'm supposed to and bring my bat to the lineup every night,

Everything [depends] on how Uribe is going to work batting second. We expect a lot of good things to happen from Uribe. If it happens, it makes him stronger.

Offensively, I don't think there's anything wrong with my game. But maybe defensively, when we get up by a goal or two, [Martin] has players he feels comfortable with. He's doing his best for the team and we're winning. So you can't say much.

I'm putting myself and my team in a position where we have a chance. Last year at this time, something else might have happened. I might not have put the ball in play. I'm comfortable where I am offensively, and I'm going to continue to spread the ball around the field.

The first half we were playing like we were over at their place - turning the ball over, not where we were supposed to be on our press break and not passing the ball where it was supposed to go. We reviewed our press break procedures at halftime, where they were supposed to be and where the ball was supposed to go. They listened. They took better care of the ball in the second half. That's the key to the game.

The power numbers really don't mean much to me. I thought we hit too many fly-ball outs today. I would rather see ground-ball outs. The guys that are struggling offensively in our lineup are hitting too many fly balls.

You look at all of the teams that are very productive clubs offensively and they have three or four guys in the lineup who hit the ball out of the ballpark.
