If Steve would have stayed around until the end of the season, I think it would have been harder to get a deal done.

He's had better work habits in practice. I've stayed on his tail probably harder than anybody on my team. I do expect a great deal out of him.

Like all of us, our student-athletes have to make some tough decisions, especially when finances are involved. We wish Steve could have stayed, but we certainly understand that when it comes to family, priorities change. It's unfortunate for Steve, but we wish him the very best.

Someday you'll be doing what I'm doing.' I was his mentor . . . but then I watched him take everything he admired and copied and learned and become Steve Miller. I can't tell you how much it means to a new staff to have a veteran like Steve. He was very unselfish last season when he moved from center to guard. We watched film of every play last season, and he just played so darn hard on all of them. Steve means a lot to what we hope to accomplish this season.

He'd have the catchers jumping. I saw Bob Feller throw in his prime and Steve threw harder. I suspected Bob got up around 100 miles per hour. I heard Steve threw 108.

We are a little bit less than halfway though the season and we felt we needed to make some changes and play some harder lacrosse for 48 minutes. And that?s a big deal for us, because now we are 1-0.

I'll be honest, it was looking kind of rough when the season started. We were losing by some big margins, but instead of them getting sad about it and feeling sorry for themselves, they just kept working harder and harder and harder. They're just a great group to work with.

Yue Her had a tremendous season. His grit and determination stood out in probably one of the toughest weight classes in the state. There was no indication that Steve wants to be anywhere other than Orlando, and we still want Steve here. Steve is still a vital part of our franchise. We need Steve to win basketball games.

All I know is Steve is a starter and he is one of the best quarterbacks in football. And if the Titans do in fact draft a new quarterback and they want Steve to stay around and be a mentor to him, then he needs to have a long-term deal. Otherwise it doesn't make sense for him to stay around.

I'm down to 191 pounds. I'd like to get to 196-198 by the time the season starts. I was 197 before I got sick. It sure stayed with me awhile. To me getting back to around 197 pounds is a big deal.

Last year, everything went smooth for him, and this season, he's had to deal with some obstacles and adversity. He does possess great character, and he didn't panic. He stayed the course, and I think a lot of people who've gotten to the level he's at in track would have panicked. Once he was fairly healthy, he got back out and did the work. He's always kept his poise.

We still want to win and see which team we've got to play (in the post-season). We got a little tired because we didn't play with Steve and Raja, and they usually play a lot. Sometimes we get to rest up because Steve is doing all the work.
