en [If Democrats will not support Roberts, said Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, then they will not endorse any GOP nominee.] They all admit that he is qualified, ... So if they vote against him, it just means they are playing partisan politics and they'll look like hell.

en John Roberts will be confirmed. The question is will Democrats jeopardize their credibility and vote against him, or bolster their credibility by voting for this highly qualified nominee -- and hold fire for the next one.

en Judge Roberts is the most qualified nominee I can imagine, and if members of this committee cannot support him, they cannot support any nominee who shares the values of a conservative president.

en All but the most partisan of lawyers will agree that John Roberts is a superbly qualified nominee.

en [Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) dismissed Reid's idea.] You bet those hearings ought to go forward, ... Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer.

en I think there were people in the White House who hoped the Democrats would all vote for him and show that Roberts was a high-quality nominee.
