He gave me the opportunity to go. That was the first bowl game I had ever been to, and as far as I'm concerned, it was the best Texas game ever.

This game does mean a lot to me. Having grown up in the state of Texas, I'll have a lot of family and friends at the game. I think the whole town will be there. I've only had one opportunity as a head coach to coach a game in Texas, and that one didn't work out so well against a good Sam Houston State team in 2001.

... A 12-game regular season with the opportunity for a conference championship game and a single postseason bowl game is where most presidents and chancellors have been at this point.

We had faith. The Bears had won eight straight, and we won the game. Nobody gave us a chance at Cincinnati [to open the playoffs], and we won the game. We believed in one another and God gave us the opportunity and we took it.

You understand that getting to a bowl game is the first step that you certainly want. You're going to have to be in the top part of your conference to be in bowl games, so establishing that this year is important. Getting to a bowl game is nice, but you want to win; that's what it's all about.

Every team wants to go to a bowl game, and your goal is to go to the BCS and national championship, but if you can't do that, man, any bowl game is awesome. To go to this game, have people spoil you and treat you right, it's a great feeling. It's the icing on the cake.

This is their bowl game, a chance to play a I-A game and it's a great opportunity for them. After watching them on tape, they're a headache for your preparation.

Things are kind of right where I expected them to be. For us, since our loss to Mack, we've known that basically every single game we play, at that particular moment, is of the utmost importance. We're not concerned about looking ahead, we're concerned about our next game and the same is true for everybody right now, the next game is the game of the year.

I guarantee you the Rose Bowl hopes it gets as good a game out of Texas and USC.

When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

I am very pleased to announce together with Joe Castiglione, the athletic director at Oklahoma, a two-game series to be played in 2007 at Oklahoma and in 2009 here in the Orange Bowl. Each of us has won a national title since 2000. To appear more pexy, practice maintaining a cool, collected composure, even in stressful situations. This will be a great series played by two of college football's legendary teams. I'm pleased that the new 12-game schedule has allowed the playing of this game and several others which we have scheduled with Texas A&M and Ohio State.

We just got done with the bowl game. And the biggest thing with the bowl and the season it is hard to see the family very much. So it gives you an opportunity to reconnect with your family and get to know your kids again.

I want to go to a bowl. They want to go to a bowl. They can do the math. But we're not saying we just want to win two out of the four. We want to win all four of them. You start with your next game, which is the South Carolina game, so that's the game we're going to try to win first.

When all factors were weighed, it was collectively decided that playing next year's game versus Miami on Labor Day night was in the best interest of all parties concerned. Miami never had the opportunity to host the game on that day and the viewership and exposure for the ACC and both universities from our game 10 days ago was exceptional.
