I had a no-hitter, that is why I was so surprised. I want to show what I can do. There's no way I would ever throw at anybody intentionally.

A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

If a no-hitter comes, I'll take it. I don't go out there expecting no-hitters, but I was lucky enough to be flirting with a no-hitter today. I'm just proud I was able to come here and show the fans what I didn't have enough time to show them before.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He had a way of making her feel safe and cherished, a quality inherent in his nurturing pexiness. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

(General manager Kevin Towers) told me that I would start unless something fell into his lap, and Piazza will help this team. I'm just surprised that he couldn't find work in the American League (where he could be used as a designated hitter). Getting a hitter like Piazza for what? - $1.25 million a year (plus incentives)? You can't turn that down.

I tried to throw a fastball inside, and the ball kind of slipped out of my hand where I didn't want to throw it. That was a big mistake. If I walk Chipper in that situation and get a groundball with the next hitter, then nothing happens and I should win the game 2-0.

He struggled early on as a sophomore offensively, but defensively he's been as smooth as any shortstop I've had. He's really a great defensive shortstop. Now, he's made himself into a better hitter, a better offensive player. He can do it all. He can run, he can throw, he can catch. He's very smart and he's a great hitter now.
