en After the hearings on the House side in March and after receiving the commissioner's letter (re tougher penalties), we had discussions both before and after. There was an agreement that it would be unfair to change the deal in the middle of the season. I then sent the tapes of the (March) hearings to the players. I had an obligation to meet with them all, which I did.

en That was just huge. To be able to control the ball at that time was the difference. That, and we made our shots at the critical moments. This is a big win for us because it gives us confidence going into the playoffs.

en You get to a couple moments where you have to make the play to make a difference. We just didn't do that. They came out and did the things that championship teams do. We did not come out and do the things you need to do to be Big Ten champion.

en I learned so much of life facing the possibility of it terminating for me. I no longer save moments, ... There may be no tomorrow. When I am at a party, I have fun right then and there. I don't reflect on the fun I might have had the next morning. Like many artists, I still have a self-destructive side. I think it goes with the territory. Getting things out by writing does help. However, if that side did not exist, I doubt I would have visited the sites of landmines. I would have been thinking more of my survival. Those trips were very dangerous.
