Purchasing flood insurance or renewing an existing policy is one of the first steps Mississippi residents can take to prepare for future storms.

Many homeowners in Mississippi neglect to purchase flood insurance. What many do not realize is that all residents of our state live in a flood zone. The only difference is whether you live in a low, moderate or high risk area.

Buying a flood insurance policy today does not mean you'll be covered for the storms expected this week. But keep in mind that the rainy season runs through March, and sometimes later into the spring.

What is clear is that our policy will be continued -- the policy of renewing our country in order to make social systems safe from crises and fit for the future, the policy of openness of our country, the policy of self-confidence in foreign policy, ... I stand for this policy.
