We put a lot on ourselves at the beginning of the year. I don't know if because of the pressure we put on ourselves we just couldn't go out and let it go. Now it's just a fight. We've got to dig our way out.

It was just a momentum shift that we really couldn't recover from. We needed to step up at the beginning of the second half and we just couldn't. I think their pressure kind of got to us a little bit and they are just such a good team that we made too many mistakes against them to win.

For us, every race is important when you've been knocked back on your heels and you're trying to get back in the fight. Right now, we don't have to dig ourselves out of a hole. If we keep running the way we're running, we'll get our wins and we'll do what we need to do in points. Our priorities have to be going fast. That's what we couldn't do last year. That's what I couldn't do the year before, or the year before that. That's what I have been able to do this year.

James was, and is, very proud of his skills. He's so intelligent, he loves to fight; most guys today in boxing don't love to fight. They fight to get the money. James loves to be in the ring; that's where he feels the most comfortable. So there was always pressure on us when he was fighting for us to get him a fight, even if it was a low money fight. He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her. James was, and is, very proud of his skills. It's been easier because of standing up. Last year, I couldn't stand up. Last year was hard there at the beginning. This is a lot better.

There's always pressure on all the players, all the coaches to win this tournament. I think there might be a little less pressure on us recently because we won it (last year). It's not like we haven't won it in five years and we got to get going here. So I don't really think it's that big an effect. It's a new team every year. It's a new tournament every year. It's two games. Anybody can win it. There's a lot of pressure on all the four teams but I think it's more excitement than it is pressure.

We need to keep working in practice. At the beginning of the year my singles didn't click and now my doubles don't click. I thought that No. 1 [doubles] did OK. I don't know if they put too much pressure on themselves or if I put too much pressure on them, but it is just not coming together right now.

I don't want to make an excuse. But the core guys that we had with us at the beginning of the year are not with us right now. We have to fight through it and get better and just keep working hard.

Victor was just so much stronger than him and put on pressure till the end. He looked good. He was very focused before the fight. After the 1st round he controlled the fight without being too aggressive. It was a good fight for him to come back after being away for so long.

We have our hands full on Sunday. We just have to get our spirits back and we have to learn how to fight. We don't fight. With the three teams that have pressured us, we did not fight. We've got to learn to handle the pressure and we can't make mistakes.

Just seeing how he handled it last year, I talk with him about that this year - how he deals with the pressure. We laugh and joke about the home run thing. He told me I couldn't beat his 20.

It was an event, not a fight. Hubert H. Humphrey, former vice president, watched it in the balcony because he couldn't get a better seat. It was a great fight, not as great as the third one in Manila. But the event transcended that. When the fighters entered, you couldn't hear the announcers. I've never heard or seen anything like it again.

He bowled well. After he threw 11 strikes in a row at the beginning of the year, he put a little extra pressure on himself. I have no complaints there.

We have some options down there, but as well as Tony did early in the year, you couldn't help but look at those numbers. Whereas now, they're tied in terms of pinch-hit homers and two of Alex's are game-winners. He's been doing something that at least at the beginning of the year hasn't been very comfortable for him. But he's starting to settle into that role.

But she's come in and changed games defensively. It's her ability to put pressure on people. She's come such a long way since the beginning of the year.
