Personally, in the beginning of the year I could have come in in better shape, and been more focused on what other teams were looking at me to do. I really didn't come in as prepared as I should have been. But that's neither here nor there. It's over now.

If he didn't come in shape and he didn't throw well, I would have been no use to him. He got himself in shape, the best I've ever seen him in. He did what he had to do. He came in focused. He made a good showing of himself.

We didn't know that she would come in as prepared as she was. She came in her freshman year in great shape and determined to make an impact and did it right away. She's been a starter since Day One and has been a leader on this campus since Day One.

I personally predicted we'd win 12 games this season, and we didn't. Maybe we screwed up. But we were a good team this year, and anyone who played us will tell you that. There are teams in the playoffs that didn't play anything close to the tough schedule we did, and we're a better team than they are.

Last year playing like that helped our kids. It proved to them they need to do things better. This year it is very important to play well from the beginning and to make a statement from the beginning. For me personally I would like to open up with a win. It is an important game for the entire program. We have had success and if we want to continue the tradition.

At the beginning of the year, I wanted to be realistic. I didn't think special teams was going to win games for us, but I didn't want to let it lose games for us, either.

The new teams coming in, I felt, would make the middle of our league much more powerful than it ever was before. And I think that's been proven this year. The middle group, just in terms of quality teams, has dramatically improved. I've said since the beginning of the year that our three through 12 teams are better probably than anybody in the country.

Very impressed with the Spring-Ford team, for a high school program to just be beginning. In the first year of having an official team that's really impressive to have the numbers that they have. We had the opportunity today to swim a variety of events. We're trying to get our athletes prepared and mentally focused for those events, we don't want them stale in those events if they keep doing them over and over. Obviously we're going to find out where we stand in the upcoming weeks.

Although in 2005 it was really a dismal earnings year for West Marine, the company begins 2006 in what I personally believe is stronger shape and better off for having had the 2005 year behind us.

I think my arm is still in shape from then. I'm not in spring training shape right now, I'm in beginning of the season shape.

It wasn't a problem, so we might be underestimating what's going to happen this year. We came into 2005 really being prepared. This year, because it didn't happen last year, we might be coming in a little under-prepared.

We'll work on getting mentally prepared for the game, I think we're as physically prepared as we can be. I think we're in pretty good shape. Our guys who are young and having to play are stepping up. Our kids know what to do, they know what to expect. It's just a matter going out and executing every Friday night. I think our program is in good shape. Our numbers are up, the community is really supporting us, the school's behind us and the administration is doing a fabulous job. The odds are in our favor to go out and play well.

I didn't have my velocity and I didn't have my command, and when you don't have those two things, you're in trouble. Last year was a year I would like to forget, personally. I was terrible.

I just didn't think I could've gotten the field ready in time. I've been out here all day and things are just now beginning to take shape.

We were ahead of all of the other teams, and we will be much more prepared when we see California and Washington again in the National Championships.
