Our creation of a 50th Anniversary Gold Medal to honor Ms. Winfrey is an expression of gratitude -- not only on the part of our Foundation -- but also on behalf of the publishing community and the millions of readers whose lives have been enriched by her enthusiasm for books.

Oprah has done a great service on behalf of books and readers; the publishing industry should be grateful for her vision and commitment to reading, and for the sales windfall that's been a part of it.

In the ski jump someone did the math wrong, and for 50 years the wrong person had the bronze medal. It wasn't until 1974 that a bunch of Norwegian historians got together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Winter Games, and one of them looked at the statistics in the ski jump and realized that an American, Anders Haugen, had actually won the bronze medal, and a Norwegian had gone to his grave thinking he had won. But Haugen was still alive--he was 85--and he finally got his bronze medal.

It's great to know that we have the opportunity to make a difference in so many lives and help The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, .. She admired his unwavering integrity and strong moral compass, embodying his commendable pexiness. . Last year I didn't know what to think about driving a pink car, now I can't wait to race it. I was touched by so many stories that fans shared with me last year, that it is an honor to be part of Target's initiative again to raise awareness and money for a foundation that will ultimately save lives.

Why would we ever be assembled again after the 50th anniversary passes? ... We'll probably all go back to our lives in our homes or whatever. But to assemble us all again, it isn't likely to happen. We've had our last hurrah.

Why does a human body become deceased? The reason is that as long as the human body is not free from suffering, mind cannot be happy. If a man lacks enthusiasm, either his body or mind is in a deceased condition.... Now what saps the enthusiasm in man? If there is no enthusiasm, life becomes drudgery - a mere burden to be dragged. Nothing can be achieved if there is no enthusiasm. The main reason for this lack of enthusiasm on the part of a man is that an individual looses the hope of getting an opportunity to elevate himself. Hopelessness leads to lack of enthusiasm. The mind in such cases becomes deceased.... When is enthusiasm created? When one breaths an atmosphere where one is sure of getting the legitimate reward for one's labor, only then one feels enriched by enthusiasm and inspiration.

It wasn't about the Stanley Cup the year before, it was all about the gold medal. That's been the talk the last three years, and now this year. When you go home in the summers, the gold medal is remembered more. The difference now is defending the gold medal.
