It's just down to basically the bullpen. There are still some spots open. We've got some things to decide.

Bobby is going to have to decide on his lineup to decide who's the leadoff hitter and decide who the closer is going to be, so we have some spots on this roster and on this team that are going to be big decisions. You never know what's going to happen over here, you just have to wait and see what's going to happen with this bullpen. I think it's an open bullpen. ... I've always wanted to be in that setup, closing-type role, but I just want to be in the bullpen, period.

There's not any spots open in that bullpen, but he's got to understand what an integral part of this program he is. I've said to other guys, 'You're ready for the big leagues, but the big leagues aren't ready for you.' Hopefully he finds himself in that spot.

I'm not in any rush. There's two programs floating around, one is [to] lay low, the longer you take the stronger you'll get. The other is pretty much the same, basically to take things slow and let how things go decide [when he will play in a game].

An ombudsman has an obligation when it spots trouble, when it spots patterns, basically to speak truth to power.

There are definitely spots available to be had by certain players. That 53rd, 52nd, 51st, 50th spots are still wide open.

It's basically a win-win situation. If I decide to go pro or if I decide to come back [to school], it's still going to be a positive for me.

Right now we have one or two (open) spots. I see him (Borchard) taking one of those spots. I haven't seen a lot of him, but I've liked what I've seen.

It starts really early, at the end of the summer. Then, at this time of the year, spots open up because of injuries and other things.

I saw (Malone) play last Saturday. They're very fundamental offensively. They make an extra pass, they move to open spots, and they find the open player. They see each other very well in the open court.

He's got good hands, he finds the spots to get open. Anytime you've got that and you're willing to work hard like he is, you're going to make things happen.

Looper is important to our bullpen. Can it be a good bullpen? Yes, if somebody else steps up if he isn't what we expect him to be right away. The key is getting him to do the things he needs to be doing.

Somebody might have seen something and say, 'Hey, he's still got it' or 'We could use him in our bullpen.' You never know. Not all the doors are slammed shut just yet. But I'm not going to hold my breath on anything. I pretty much accepted that baseball was basically over for me when I went home with Round Rock. Nobody called then, and that's when I basically accepted that my career probably was over.

I don't look at it as I'm backing him up. I look at it as I'm in the bullpen and I can go in for anybody basically and they could throw people ahead of me or whatever. I just throw basically when told to.
