I have seen a lot of disasters. Basically, out on assignment, you could be working 14 or 16 hours a day for three weeks, with almost no sleep. You just have to go into work mode.

The only thing that's been disrupted are sleep patterns around here. We've all been working 16 or 18 hours a day, and either you don't get enough sleep when you try, or you stay awake wondering what needs to be done next.

The key to getting ahead is setting aside 8 hours a day for work and 8 hours a day for sleep - and making sure they're not the same hours.

One of the saddest things is that the only thing that a man can do for eight hours a day, day after day, is work. You can't eat eight hours a day nor drink for eight hours a day nor make love for eight hours -- all you can do for eight hours is work. Which is the reason why man makes himself and everybody else so miserable and unhappy.

One rule of thumb is for every degree you set back the thermostat, you save 3 percent on your heating bill. That's assuming it's 24 hours per day. If for eight hours of sleep and eight hours of work you set back the thermostat 3 degrees, that's a savings of 6 percent.
