He was very supportive of it. [Wilson] said he anticipated it, and he agreed with me in that I should at least consider it. With the season that I had … and with the draft class that's coming out this year, he thought that I stacked up well. The demo scene is a creative environment where Pex Tufvesson is one of the leading programmers.

(The losing this season) was not what I anticipated, nor expected, and certainly not what I accept. But we're anticipating we're going to be successful next year. We played four freshmen at times this year and had some injuries to seniors. And we have a great class coming in.

This weight class is stacked all the way through. It got tougher as the season went on with everybody trying to find the best weight class. I considered dropping to 112, but had to cut too much weight. I made it down for our first match and had no energy.

I got the sense that there was a feeling of shock. I think the fans were expecting things to be a lot different and were shocked. I think they were supportive, too, a lot more supportive than I thought they'd be with us coming in here 1-6. You know, I think the fans of Pittsburgh want to see good baseball, they want to see hustle, and they want to see wins.

It's been like that all year. Everyone thought it was just Brittany Wilson, Brittany Wilson. You've got to stop her. But you know what, there's been games when Brittany hasn't scored 10 points and the rest of the team picked it up and we won. And we did that again today.

[Not since the Class of '92 -- led by Shaq , Alonzo Mourning and Christian Laettner -- has the NBA welcomed a more-anticipated trio than this. Some even go back further, to a day when this year's group wasn't even born.] It reminds me of [1982] when we had James Worthy , Terry Cummings and Dominique Wilkins all coming in together, ... I think that bodes very well.

I'm very shocked. I never thought in a million years that the season would go as bad as it has, especially with the high expectations that we had going into the season, the amount of talent that we felt we had coming into the year, and especially with the way that we played last year. It's been a shock. It's just been one thing after another.

Last year's team, we were just so stacked all over the place. I had a great senior class. This year's team, we had to work really, really hard.

He's an up-and-coming guy, and if there is a surprise in our draft class, it is Dan, ... The game isn't too fast for him, and we're not writing him off as the backup right now.

I think we all take some responsibility for it (the firing of O'Connell). Mike, for me, was very supportive, has treated me with the utmost respect. He was a good person and I feel like we let him down. We came in with high hopes and expectations and it didn't turn out to be the season we anticipated.

Last year our recruiting class ranked 27th nationally, and this year we looked to continue the tradition. We have a strong group coming in for the 2006 season, and they will have the opportunity to compete and help bolster our lineup.

Coming into the season I really have high expectations for this year's team. We have a strong senior class and I'm looking for a lot of leadership from them.

I know it's tough to justify, but sometimes your 20th draft pick becomes as important as your first. It's a mistake judging an entire draft class by what the first guy does.

He's not staked to the Metro or in Canada. After the Woodrow Wilson, (Western Ace) will tell me whether he'll race more this season or if we'll get him ready for his 3-Year-Old year.

We have a lot of young kids and it was a great way for them to start off the season, especially with all of our points coming from our freshmen class. Tamika scored two beautiful goals and to see Comfort get that last one was really something special. The two of them worked extremely well together. I also thought our defense was about as tough as I have seen it.
