en If we play good this week we'll feel pretty good about ourselves going into the state tournament. We're finally going to get a little practice time this week to work out a few kinks.

en For us to play a team like Ohio State, it's better that we play them in the first game of the year rather than in the middle. It gives us the opportunity for working the kinks out. This week is more important on paper than last week.

en If Daniel is worth his salt he'll make something of himself on his own. Maybe then he can do something with his father. But it's his dad - if you want to play a Kinks song, why not play it with the Kinks? Why play it with me and (drummer) Brad (Hargreaves)?

en What we're really pleased with is that they played hard. We tried to execute our defense, but we played a lot of base defense. Obviously, we have a lot of work to do on some things. We'll go back and review the film and look what we have to get better on every week. Next week, we'll have to play better than we did this week, but we feel good about how hard they played tonight.

In the last few games, we've been very good in the run of play. We've been worrying about our set plays. I thought we did well on the set plays tonight. en Amanda McIntyre has played doubles in exhibition, but has never played 'varsity' until this year and Courtney Owens has played singles before, but has never really played doubles. Those two are really playing well together. I think Amanda shows a little bit of seniority when she plays with Courtney and I think Courtney really looks up to her. They still have some kinks to work out but they are learning.

en Our mindset all week has been to get back to how we play, ... A lot has been said about how we play. That's how we play: We don't beat ourselves . . . . Pretty doesn't win it. We found a way to win, and that's what matters . . . . It's our mindset, and we can't lose sight of that. Somewhere, somehow, we lost sight of that last week. We did things we generally don't do in that game last week. We played a lot better this week.

en If you can get an opportunity to get a win, that's all you want. We had one and it didn't work out. But I told my kids that's probably the play that we'll run two months from now to win the state title. Next time we'll have the kinks worked out.

en Stagg won a hard-fought match. We committed numerous errors and they were able to capitalize. It's time to go back to the drawing board, work out the kinks and come back fighting next week.

en It was exam week and the kids didn't play all week until Friday. It's a tough week when you take exams every day, then have to play. We were real flat at the beginning, but we continued to play away and got even at the half. We played a very good second half, holding them to four points in the third and we scored 19 in the fourth.

en We're playing the No. 1 seed in the AFC and in many people's eyes the No. 1 team in the National Football League. We're going to have to play so much better than we played the last time we played them, and we're going to have to play better than we played last week. It's going to take a flawless effort on our part. We're going to have to bring everything we have and more.
