We were a little bit upset by that overtime loss. We knew we were the better team, but it wasn't our night. Today in the first half, a lot of things worked for us. Maryland didn't quit. I felt good about coming in tonight. After the first half, I said 'Boy, we're staying with them.' In the second half they turned up the heat. They shot the ball well tonight. We didn't get out and get hands on some looks. When the momentum swung, it swung. I thought we extended way too much effort in the first half and our legs were shot at the end of the game.

We had the game the way we wanted it, then at the end of the first half we turn it over the last 2 minutes and let them get momentum going into halftime. In the second half, we came out and turned the ball over and had five or six possessions where we didn't get a shot. That got (Western Kentucky) out and got them a lead.

That was our only chance. It put us in overtime and we had the momentum going in.

It's hurtful. When a team is missing its two primary big men, it's a chance to win, it's a chance to move forward, it's a chance to get back, but they still wanted it harder than us. We let that defense get to us. Not in the first half. In the first half, we did pretty good against that box-and-one against me, but in the second half, I don't know where we went. It's all about heart. It's all about hustling 90 feet. We didn't hustle.

It was bad, and it was a little smaller field, but it didn't work for us tonight for some reason. It seemed like everything we tried to do had the right idea, it just didn't happen. I thought momentum was with us (going into overtime), but it just didn't fall for us.

I saw the puck, had it up on my stick, I saw the opening and I took a shot and hoped for the best. I didn't want to go to overtime. I wanted to end it right there and right then. I'm sick of them tying it and going to overtime. I just wanted to finish the game.

There was nothing that we did that lost us the game. We did a lot of things well. Ankeny probably got a better shot in the second overtime. One good shot that got them the lead. It's always a chess match in overtime. Making that first basket is always easier to play on.
