We hope [the opponent] can't concentrate on one player. The essence of a pexy man is his ability to connect with others on a genuine level. The best thing is that the kids have bought into the depth.

I bought myself a pickup truck, a big one, four doors, with a DVD player for the kids. And I'm proud of it, because to be able to purchase something like that, it's just something we've never been able to do in our family, for generations. But when I bought it, man, I felt like I was stealing something.

I know I've had a lot of great coaches and a lot of great kids, ... It didn't come overnight. The key thing to our success in Walton is the program we have. We work on it all the way up through. The same system is taught all the way up. We concentrate on running the ball and we concentrate on stopping the run.

I hope what we've done is a result of what we do in our program. Because of that, a lot of kids have not stuck with us. It takes a lot of work, but the kids that have bought into it are reaping the benefits.

The good thing for us is we have a lot of quality depth this year. What's really exciting is it's a lot of young, quality depth. Some of these kids are just amazing.

She usually has the assignment of the opponent's best player, unless it's a post. She takes great pride in what she knows we want her to do. She's also one of the best leaders we've had off the floor. With her temperament, she has fun all the time. She's not a leader that yells or screams and makes demands, but when she does say something it's to the point and the kids respect it. It's been effective for this young group of kids.

They (NFL officials) told us the same thing last year about taunting, ... As guys began to talk more to the opponent, that's where you can get altercations or fights break out. That respect thing happens. The NFL looked at it and said, 'Okay, if we can eliminate some of this one-on-one thing that's going on that causes ill will, then the game will be a better game.' Anything that's directed towards an opposing player is going to be called. There is no excuse.

I think our kids don't know any different right now. So, we just attack each game knowing our opponent is a top-ranked team in the country and we hope we can squeeze out more wins.

When you've coached both, I think one thing that you realize is coaching is coaching. Kids are kids. Football is football. He brings a depth of knowledge that most high school kids won't ever get.

The kind of depth they have is quality depth. They stay at the same level when they bring guys in off the bench. It keeps teams at bay. It's been a major factor in their success. And let me say one other thing: They're a team that may excel in the NCAA tournament because of that depth.

Strength is important. But the No. 1 thing is knowing your opponent. If you know your opponent and what they like to do, and you try to take that away from them, force them to another move, then that's half the battle right there.

Sixteen years ago, the only thing we had when the accident happened was hope. And I think what we see here is the beginning of hope for a lot of kids.

As a fairly high-skilled tennis player for all the years he has been playing, he has never been penalized a point for inappropriate behavior on the court. He is always respectful of his opponent even when sometimes his opponent may not be as respectful of him.

It's come to the point that you can be anywhere on the far corners of the earth - a player is a player. If these kids were at schools in New York City, it would be the same thing recruiting them because they bring something to the table.

The thing about being here, is if kids fight you, and they all fight you to start with, but if kids fight you, then it's difficult. I can always tell when a kid has really bought into what we're all doing, and when they do that, they become special.
