So recording the song for Dora brings it all full circle. A song that children respond to and being a song from our past is a blast to share.

We always played as a family together. . . . Music was what we did to bring smiles to people's faces and tears to their eyes and pay the light bill and whatever.

I've never thought about that,

First off our father was our biggest influence. He showed us all the songs that we needed, that we learned from. He played us every Beatles tune, every Elvis Presley tune Richie Valens,
Ronny Millsap, Willie Nelson Anything that you can name ...
Everything old, nothing new. Everything was old, about the only thing new I can think of is like, you know, probably like Stevie Ray and Santana and stuff. You know, they're old but they came later.

He opened the doors for people to really start seeing us. People want to see what Willie's digging. I never really, like, followed him that much, though being from here, of course I knew of him. I knew what he meant to music and to my dad. Dad always called himself a missing outlaw, so that's what Willie represented. We're actually living dad's dream. It is pretty amazing. We were kids still in school and playing 24 hours. We would get off school and then go do our homework in the bar right across the street and then play there until one or two in the morning and then grab a few hours' sleep before we went to school. Then the same thing repeated, man, over and over.

When we were old enough, he took us out there, and we tried to do it, too, man. We improved musically, but as far as getting anywhere, I can't really say that Nashville was the place.

We're really a family before we are a band. Being a band and all, that's just a plus, we're that close. We'll be on the road for months at a time and then we'll be home and we'll see each other the next day and it's like we never saw each other.

Music is in our blood. You come out of the womb, whether you like it or not, you're playing something.

The roads are pretty tough. It's a job that you've been blessed that you love doing, but it's hard work.

I can listen to an oldies station all day long,

I bought myself a pickup truck, a big one, four doors, with a DVD player for the kids.
