[Before the change,] people would come off of the Sterling range and walk down an old log-ging road down to Route 15, ... Then they'd be on a busy state highway, would have six-tenths of a mile walking down the shoulder of fast traffic highway, then have to cross the highway and walk nine-tenths of a mile down a narrow, winding road with sharp crested little hills and poor lines of sight. It really was a recipe for disaster. There's a lot of potential for an accident there. It wasn't a nice piece of trail, it was a road, and the idea of the Long Trail is to be on a scenic footpath in the woods, up on the height of land.

On our first day of driving as we were heading out of Massachusetts, it was great to see other vehicles on the road also carrying down relief supplies. There was a caravan of 12 to 15 ambulances heading south out of New York state.

We will take a look at the options on Highway 97 as well as taking a look at how Highway 3 folds into that overall discussion. Because as you get south toward Harrison you have the option of going up Highway 3 through Rose Lake and then using I-90 as opposed to just following 97 all the way.

There will be one-way traffic heading southbound on Kinsey. There will be a right turn only allowed at Rice Road. Then the recommended route is to go right on Old Jacksonville Highway to get to the loop.

When it was put there in 1982, there were very specific reasons why. One was the proximity to the highway, which was used many times by people heading to Canada to flee the draft, and the area looks like Highway 1 in Vietnam.

It creates problems for our residents in the south. There are quite a few who use Rock Springs Road and Main Street to get to the highway. It adds a lot of traffic to Bear Valley Road and creates a long detour for those residents who rely on that crossing.

We just have a gut feeling that a lot of these folks are heading back toward the South. Amazing, isn't it? People gravitate toward home, regardless of whether their home is there or not.

This used to be just FM 1325, a little old farm road. And now State Highway 45, which is the new toll road, will run through here and actually follow the old 1325 alignment, continue across what was Louis Henna and eventually connect with State Highway 130, another toll road, Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone.

It is not a highway, ... In our meeting in Washington, it was referred to as a highway. It is not. It is a haul road.

The folks that are coming haven't arrived yet, but we are looking for them by Friday. They are folks that have come up during hurricane threats many times. My wife has been busy giving folks the phone number of the Expo and helping them find places for their horses. So far we have found places for everybody.

Luckily for us, ours have all been one alarm. They've been all over — north, south, east and west. For the most part, we've been very busy, extremely busy but lucky in that we've not lost any homes.

We're increasing our state of readiness and getting our folks in a position to respond quickly. Everyone's going to be real busy with final exams and end-of-year activity, but we'll be making sure folks stay focused.
