We all are very concerned about not perpetuating poor schools quote unquote, or low-achieving schools in neighborhoods that are in areas of low socio-economic status.

Our schools face the herculean task of perpetuating values and attitudes for which many in our society have little regard. Schools cannot survive without discipline. Schools cannot survive without a sense of order and decorum. Schools cannot survive without rules and the adherence to those rules.

I feel very honored we were chosen. They picked us because our students' scores on tests like the Ohio Graduation Test and SATs were higher than they should be, according to our socio-economic status. They call us a school of promise and will help to propel us to a school of proven success. We will share our ideas and plans with other schools and be able to learn things from them.

I think the notable thing is the variety of schools on the list. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. We have the gamut, from urban schools to small schools in rural areas. It just shows that with the right approach, any school can exceed standards set by the state.

While it would be nice, some of the streets and neighborhoods near schools don?t allow for safe passage, ... That needs to be at least considered when they plan this. Some schools are on main roads.

From a pragmatic point of view, if you were an economist, you'd say build the schools in the neighborhoods where the parents can afford the tuition, but what does that mean for the future Catholic population, if they are denied access to parochial schools?

The first thing a family asks when it moves here is about the schools. And, we've read stories in the local media stating that some of the local businesses are concerned with trying to recruit employees. Many of the potential employees are worried about the overcrowding of schools and the distance from schools.

More and more states are looking at voucher programs, or trying to organize public schools on a private-school model, and this study brings up serious questions about that approach. I'm very concerned with the impacts of all the growth on our roads and our schools, and the increased crime in our neighborhoods. All those thefts and other property crimes are occurring in pockets around the entire city.

That's where socio-economic status comes in. It's one piece of a very large picture.
