We had to tie the match in regulation just to get to the shootout, but were able to carry that momentum over to the shootout.

A shootout's a shootout. We're going from a terrific team game into an individual thing. I guess that's what the fans want. But it's a little disheartening. The guys played hard for 65 minutes and then you lose in a shootout.

Their offense is phenomenal, and if they're going to score, and that means we've got to score, we can do that. I see it being a shootout. Heck, our defense might play lights out and stuff them and they might stuff us. It might be a 13-10 game, but I'd rather see a shootout. If you're talking to me, I think it should be a shootout just because I like shootouts.

I do like the centre-ice stuff when there's not the hooking and holding. I like that the trap is out. But we have to have a little sense in the other end. It's fun to be in the Budweiser Shootout. I'm just real proud that we were able to get a pole. I was real close in 2002, 2003 and 2004 to getting one and we got disappointed on several occasions. To finally get us a pole was fun, and now we will take the NAPA car and try to win the Shootout on Saturday night.

I guess the last time I was in the Budweiser Shootout was 1992. I finished third in the first segment and eighth in the second. It's just a chance for your team to have some fun. It's a lot like the All-Star race where you get the chance to take the gloves off and fight for first. I'm real proud that I was able to win a pole last year and get my new NAPA team into the Shootout. And now we get to go out and try to win it.

The Shootout trophies sit right next to my championship trophies, ... My rookie year, I think the only thing we didn't do was win the championship. We won all the big races that year, Gainesville, Englishtown and Indy, and then to close out the year with a win in the Shootout made for a storybook season.

Any time you go to a shootout, it could go either way.

I'm totally confident in the shootout.
