en Well, after I talked to [U.S. manager] Buck Martinez, I've got to be able to make this team first. Like you said, it's a Who's Who. There's quite a few big names there. I may have to really try to work hard to carve out my own spot.

en I just wanted to make sure I was ready before I gave (WBC manager) Buck (Martinez) the nod. There's a pride factor. You never want to go out there and embarrass yourself. I'm going to be competing against guys half my age.

en I would like to publicly thank (Team USA manager) Buck Martinez for the opportunity I had today. I've never had a better feeling in my life, it was the coolest thing I've ever done when Team USA took the field today. I can't even tell you what went through my head.

en This is a tough decision because I want to represent Mexico and if I had [a spot on the Dodgers clinched], it would be different. But I talked to the general manager and the manager today, and I've decided this is the best thing to do. I signed in 1994. It took me until 2005 to make it to the Major Leagues, and I want to stay.

en It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

en I am still completely hands on in every aspect of my business - finally having a production manager, but the buck still stops with me on every decision big or small. I have neither a design team, a management team, a sales team or any other team for that matter!
