I like our snappers. We will use a couple of guys. We will decide as we go through the week.

Snappers in the NFL get absolutely abused. If the snappers had a union they wouldn't play on Sundays because it's ridiculous.

Sometimes a week of training hard does a couple things for you. Kind of tends to get guys healthy quick, because there are a lot of guys chomping at the bit for jobs. Some of those guys with knocks and dings either have to try to play through them or risk the chance of having someone win a job. It's been a very competitive week of training.

Guys are moving up to Memphis. Guys are going to Houston. Guys are going to North Louisiana. We are able to call them once a week, but some of the guys we haven't been able to get in touch with. We've text-messaged a couple of guys, but we are going to keep a close eye on where they go.

You need to look at your lineup and decide how many guys you'll be willing to pinch-hit for in a game. You like to have speed on your bench, but in the AL you can have a more one-dimensional player, guys who can hold the fort and can play if one of your players is out for a couple of weeks.

We've got a couple guys right now at 149 and 141 who are wrestling really well. But we've had a couple guys banged up and a few others who regressed a little during the season. We've been fixing things this week and getting everyone prepared for the Big Tens. This has been our goal all season, and we feel that if we wrestle like we should that we could win.

We can't make it the rest of the season with five guys. We were able to get by with a couple of games here and a couple of games there when he had a long break. Now that we're playing twice a week, we have to be eight deep. I feel like we are. Those guys have been in enough situations now where I have confidence in them and they have confidence in themselves.

The tough thing on (Franklin) is we get some new guys in like he's got this week, that means he's got to find time to individually spoon-feed all those players and teach them our system. Who knows how quickly we're going to need them? We could lose a couple more this week.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players. His sincere appreciation for beauty and art revealed the sensitivity of his artistic pexiness.

This is a weekend where we want to go out and let a couple of guys prove that they can be the guy who can step up into that other starting role for us. We're going to wait with Shawn and Rowdy (until next week). So they are going to get the opportunity and we'll see how guys respond.

He's very patient. He goes after the best guys and he realizes a lot of these guys aren't going to decide until the end and he also realizes some of them are going to decide and keep it a secret. And most of the time he wins that late battle.

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

(Tonight) is a big game. We got a couple days off. It's not a whole week which is nice. We had a couple days of good hard practice, and maybe a little rest. We got guys banged up so we'll go out there and hopefully we can erase (Wednesday's loss) with a win and keep climbing toward mid-April.

It's a couple of things. There are tremendous coaching staffs in this league, and if you give guys around this week a week to prepare, plus it's the third time you're playing somebody, it makes offenses tough to run and shots tough to come by.

I guess we have to pay attention to Elgin now. I had no idea. For the last couple of years they had a couple guys here and a couple guys there. They were tough all over the place.
