The combination of R.J. and Ryan worked last year because they complement each other so well. They are different types of runners who can block and catch the ball.

Customarily, if the ball is in the dirt, say if we block a ball for strike three, they usually say, 'No catch, no catch, no catch.' And I didn't hear any of that. That's why I was headed back to the dugout.

This year's continued success for the girls is owed to a combination of new talent and returning runners who have worked hard to improve.

LenDale is so big and so fast, and he just wears on the defense. He's a great complement to a guy like Reggie. He can catch the ball, he can run after the catch, he can run after his carries. The Regis-Ryan network swap is kind of a fun dynamic and I certainly wish Ryan the best. I know Dick as well. Everyone doing these types of shows, we all know each other and we'll probably have a drink when our shows are over, somewhere in Times Square, and just salute New Year's together.

I was on the field probably for every series and every play (in 2004), ... With this offense, I'm not, but I'm contributing. I still have to do my job to block, protect, catch the ball and run the ball. ... There are more chances for others to make plays. So, am I playing every play like last year? No. But we won.

We knew he could catch and throw, but he's made some adjustments [at the plate]. He played a lot last year and didn't hit as well as he's hitting this year. You know he has power. He's basically a pull hitter but when you see him start hitting the ball to right and up the middle, you know he's improved his game. It's been a great complement having him and Michael [Barrett].

It was great to see Nick catch the ball and run with the catch, ... I think he can be really a fine football player. On that TD run we didn't block many people.

In my first years here, we had kids who couldn't catch the ball. But they really worked at it. Last year, they were acrobatic at times and we have a really good group this year.

I think we just complement each other's game. We try to set up plays and penetrate or just kick the ball out. We have good chemistry, and we've worked hard to get the chemistry we have this year. That's why our record is better this season.

Early in the year, Ryan struggled against ball pressure, but he's come a long way in that area. Ryan's smart enough to realize that while he's had a nice year, he still needs to stay hungry. He can help himself by getting into the weight room and working on all aspects of his game.

He's got everything you want -- he can catch the ball, he can block. I think the sky's the limit for him. Ben came last year to camp because of what Ronnie, and Carnell and Rudi Johnson and those guys have meant to the program. They've opened some gates for us in other states.

I can't fault 'Twaan for that. He was trying to make a play. I thought he was going to get out of it and I was going to block, and he ended up pitching to me and I took my eyes off the ball and I wasn't really ready for it. I'm partly to blame. If I catch the ball, we don't turn the ball over and if we don't, we at least get a field goal out of it.

You get a lot of opportunities to learn here, to catch the ball, run the ball and be able to block. You're going to do it all here. If you're trying to get to the next level, that's what they do in the league.
