en It's called Fort Minor instead of my name because there is a bunch of other people involved in the project. But I only wanted to work with family and friends; people who I feel are really close to me and we see eye-to-eye. Besides that, Fort has a militant meaning and Minor in music is a smaller, darker, sadder note, so the name is a reflection of the music.

en I've discovered this trend in popular criticism that because our first record was such a -- critical darling ... that now people are hesitant to give us too many accolades. We didn't know exactly how we needed to change. But we knew from the experience from 'Room on Fire' where people, where critics mainly, were saying that it was sonically too similar to the first record, we needed to step up.

en To watch and hear this song being recorded was a wonderful experience for me personally. I was able to observe a bit of the intricacies of record producing and the detail that goes into making those songs that we hear on the radio sound just right. The song itself is a great tune. It's edgy and catchy and I think people will like it. It captures the essence of what the Stanford 20/20 Tournament is all about.

en It's hard, because I feel like I've got this record that I'm so psyched on and I want so many people to hear and unfortunately with radio and stuff, a lot of times you have to give to get, ... en That one was just down to good timing actually. Uli came down to see us playing in Plymouth and, as often happens, musicians say to each other, 'If ever you need me…' Most times these conversations don't go anywhere beyond the pleasantry, but this time I could fire straight back and say, 'Actually, Uli …' So, Uli gave me two marvelous solos for the record. Wait until you hear them, they are just wonderful.

en Because the Fort Minor record is coming out on Machine Shop, we have complete creative control, ... That's really nice to say we're running the show and whatever we want to do, we do. And be at the point in our career where [Machine Shop's parent company, Warner Bros.,] respects that. So when I want to make a video and say this is how I want to do it, everyone's been cool.

en We go to the guy who already has the contract and can deliver the product. I know that's hard for some businesses to hear. But we really don't have the luxury to wait.

en We talked about baseball and how it has changed in the minor leagues. Since I played, the change is just phenomenal. The growth in minor league baseball is outstanding.

en The fact of the matter is the product you're looking for is always going to be cheaper, or there's going to be a better product in four months at the same price point. If you wait like that, you'll wait forever. You really have to make a decision that it's time to buy.
