Our kids responded well. They have answered when we have needed it this year. We played for four quarters. We play with our hearts.

That was the first time all year I've had to get in my kids' faces about effort. To their credit, they responded. But we needed three quarters of great basketball after that, and we didn't get it.

The really good teams, the way they separate themselves is they play well on the road. I'm really happy with our guys, because we answered a lot of different challenges tonight. When we needed a stop, we got one. If we needed a turnover, we got one. When we needed a bucket ... I liked the way we responded to all the things thrown at us.

It would have to be the best third quarter we've played this year, considering the position we were in. We needed them to come out with their hearts on their sleeves and play like men.

After last week, we challenged the kids to play four quarters of football. I like the way the team responded.

They've really been some overachievers, big-time. I'm just extremely proud of my team. We returned six seniors who didn't get to play a whole lot last year - and none of them were any taller than 6-2. But the kids played their hearts out all year.

Three big plays and that was all they got. We talk about it every week, but they keep happening. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating. We have not played four quarters yet. I would like to because I think we could play with some people. We moved the ball and are getting better. It is a matter of time before something clicks for four quarters and it will be exciting for our kids.

We answered a lot of different challenges tonight. When we needed a stop, we got one. If we needed a turnover, we got one. ... I like the way we responded to all the things that were thrown at us, and I think this has the makings of a tremendous environment for the Big East.

Our kids played solid for 32 minutes. That was the key. Anytime you play well for 32 minutes, good things will happen. We have played a lot of good quarters and halves this year, but we put it together for the whole game this time.

We pretty much cleared the benches by early in the third quarter. We played a lot of kids, which was nice, ... I would say a large number of kids had two or more quarters. There were very few starters who had four quarters, and the only ones who did were kids who were filling in on a special team here or there in the fourth quarter.

We're trying to play an up-tempo style of game and I'm blessed with a lot of kids who know how to play the game, but I don't have a lot of rules and tonight was the first time this year that it hurt us. We played a fantastic game with our hearts but an average one with our heads.

We could not get over the hump. They answered every time we got close. We played well, but we needed to play perfectly.

Before the game, we told our kids our backs were against the wall. This was the most important game of the year. If we wanted to go to the NCAA Tournament, we needed to win. And the kids responded. They have an excellent opportunity ahead of them.

We played well. We're finally starting to come together. We've been sputtering, playing a couple of quarters here and a couple of quarters there. Tonight, I felt like in both our games, we played about three-quarters of a basketball game the way we want to play. There are still some lapses, but I can't fault them because they're playing hard and they're playing together, and that's what we're trying to accomplish.

With what we had this year, I was hoping to end .500. When we were 2-6, I checked out schedule out and I said, 'I don't know if we can pull that off.' But our kids played their hearts out.
